Richard W. Farr, 67, of Southington died March 16, 2011, at Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. He was the loving husband of Marguerite (Larmett) Farr for 41 years.

He was born in New Britain July 12, 1943, to the late Wesley S. and Frances (McGlaflin) Farr. He was a longtime Southington resident. He worked as a mechanic for more than 35 years. In his early years, he enjoyed camping with his family. He loved Lionel Model trains and had his own train room. He loved working on his computer, was a skilled woodworker, an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed caring for his late four-legged friends, Dallas, Sandy and Sambuca.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Peter Farr and his wife, Heather, and Charles Fair, all of Southington; two grandchildren, Delaney Rose Fair and Dylan Anthony Fair; his sister, Geraldine Hanna, of Jacksonville, NC.; his mother-in-law, Marguerite Larmett, of Wolcott; his brother-in-law, Jack Larmett, of Wolcott; his sister-in-law, Eileen Farr, of Elkridge, Md.; his stepmother, Helen Fair, of Southington; several nieces and nephews; his special friends, Darrell Lavoie, Gary and Sybil Williams, all of Southington, and Roberta Ottoson, of Farmington; and his dogs, Shadow and Cyrus. He was predeceased by his sister, Donna Duprey; and his brother, Thomas H. Farr. The family would like to say a special "thank you" to the staff at THOCC at Bradley Memorial ICU for the special and loving way they took care of Richard.

The funeral service was held March 21, 2011, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, Plantsville. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Memorial donations may be made to SPCA of Connecticut, 359 Spring Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468.
