From Find A Grave:
His boyhood days were passed upon the farm; he was educated at Dartmouth college, from which he graduated in 1798. In his early days his conduct was unusually regular, and in college he was orderly, obedient to authority and diligent in his studies. He was early interested in religious matters, but did not unite with the church of his boyhood until the summer after he graduated from college. He taught school a year at Northampton, Mass., and entered the law office of Hon. Thomas R. Gold at Whitesborough, N. Y., as a student.

He was soon convinced that the legal profession was not what he would care to adopt. His talents, tastes and feelings were more adapted to the ministry: and, in 1801, he began the study of theology with Rev. Charles Backus,
D.D., of Somers.

Mr. Hovey married Mrs. Huldah (Ely) Hayden, daughter of Rev. Richard Ely and widow of Uriah Hayden, of Essex, Conn., Sept. 9, 1804. She was born in Lyme, Conn., July 21, 1772

It is indeed a mystery as to who the parents of Ephraim Farr Sr. of Chesterfield were. Very little to go on. He was of Westminster when he married Elizabeth Cobleigh of New Braintree. But, no other Farr's found in Westminster so far. Another odd thing is that I have not been able to trace any of Ephraim and Elizabeth's children besides Ephraim Farr Jr.  Ephraim Farr Jr. married Phoebe Robbins. So neither Ephraim married a Nancy Graves. In fact, it was Samuel Farr III who married Nancy (Graves) Knowlton as his third wife.

FRANCES FARR IS STAR GROWER OF ROSE BUSHES - Destiny has willed that Frances Farr, featured woman in "High Flyers" at the Jamaica Theater, must spend a good share of her waking hours in the glow of electric lights. Two performances a day of burlesque take up a lot of an actress time and at the end sent hurrying with as much speed is her tired muscles will permit to her hotel. This is the routine for the woman, who is one of the best known in her line for forty odd weeks of the year.
But there comes a time when seasons end and costumes are put in storage for the summer. Hardly is the curtain rung down on the last performance of the season when Frances Farr, the actress, temporarily dies and Mrs. Frank Damsel, the woman, is born. It is not a case of dual personality. It is just a normal woman seeking the life in which she is the happiest.
Public favor over a considerable number of years has made it possible for Miss Farr to save money and this money she has invested in a homestead up on Lake George, about 15 miles north of Glens Falls. To this sacred spot she travels as soon as the close of the season permits. For two happy months she is a farmer, concerned intimately with asparagus beds and rose bushes. Her rose bushes are the pride of her life and envy of the countryside.
