Lorin Ballantyne FARR Jr. [Parents] [scrapbook] 1 was born on 20 Jun 1933 in Ogden, Weber, Utah, United States. He died on 25 Apr 2014 in West Jordan, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. Lorin married Elizabeth Ann DUDA on 25 May 1963 in Hackettstown, Warren, New Jersey, United States.

Lorin Ballantyne
Farr Jr
1933 ~ 2014
Lorin Ballantyne Farr Jr left this world peacefully, Friday April 25, 2014, two months shy of his 81st birthday. He was born June 20th, 1933 in Ogden Utah to Ella and Lorin B. Farr. He married Elizabeth-Anne Duda (Sue) May 25th, 1963 in Hackettstown New Jersey. Lorin attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he learned to enjoy boxing and speak Russian. He graduated June 4, 1958 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Lorin was passionate about learning, and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Engineering from Northwestern State University at Natchitoches while stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He served a 22 year commission, a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, where he was awarded a Bronze Star and Oak Leaf Cluster. He earned the rank of Major before retiring to West Jordan, Utah in 1979. Lorin continued to work in the defense industry, securing employment with Hercules Bacchus works in Magna Utah. He designed and tested igniters for MX missiles during his 13 year tenure, before retiring in 1992. He was literally a 'rocket scientist'. Lorin possessed an extraordinary proficiency for mathematics, and enjoyed using his abacus and slide-rule long before, and well after, pocket calculators and home computers became commonplace. When asked if he knew the time, he would respond by explaining how to build a clock. His quick wit and often dry sense of humor rarely failed to make people he chose to share them with laugh. He could be as silly as he was serious. He enjoyed and was learned in theater, history, ancient cultures, and architecture. He was especially passionate about the west and early cowboy films. His career with the Army allowed him to travel to many parts of the world with his family, including Germany, and Korea. He was always certain to teach his children to recognize and appreciate the values and accomplishments of the cultures they visited, while instilling in them his strong sense of morality, chivalry, and fairness. He never failed to provide an uncompromising example of faith, commitment, and dedication to his family, church, and country. His family is comforted knowing that he is with his Father in Heaven where the sacrifice, hardship, and necessity of a strong military are no longer necessary, and he now enjoys infinite peace and solace. Lorin is survived by his wife, Elizabeth-Anne (Sue), and six sons; David Joshua, Christopher Lorin, Edward Alexander, Andrew Thomas, Adam Marcus, and Michael Charles. He is preceded in death by his Father, Lorin Farr, mother, Ella Conoly, and beloved brother, Richard Conoly. Services are scheduled Friday, May 2nd at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Viewing at 1300 and graveside services at 1400; 1pm and 2pm civilian time.
