He was listed as 'head of  household' in Cavendish School District # 4 up to that year.   He purchased 80 acres of land from Section 33, Township # 6 [Vernon] on 23 Feb. 1841 for $250.00.  He must have removed to Milwaukee, as he and Laura sold the land the next year and he was listed as a Milwaukee resident in the 1840 census.

From the research of Linda Farr Welch:

Often confused with his father, he dropped his first name and went by the name of Russell Farr.  In the 1880 census of Cavendish, Nathaniel's daughter Mary told the census taker that her father was born in Massachusetts, and her mother in New Hampshire. Perhaps Nathaniel was born in Westford before his father moved to New Ipswich, and his birth was not recorded.

From the List of Cavendish Schools, Heads of Families with Children between ages 4-18, we surmise that he had four children.

In 1828, The District # 8  (Gilchrist school district):  The Farr farm was occupied by Nathaniel R. Farr, where two children of the family were attending school in the district at that time.

Russell Farr had two children and was living in Proctorsville, District #2 in 1836.   From 1837-8, two children were attending District #8 school from Nathaniel R. Farr's family, as well.

Mr. Farr died at Cavendish, 12 Nov., 1840, and is buried in the Farr Family Plot.

In the 1843-4 School record list of Baltimore, Vt., we find the Widow Polly Farr with two school-age children, living here under the names of Foster and Horace Farr.

In the year 1846, Widow Polly Farr was listed as head of the household with two children at school, Foster Farr, and Clark Spaulding living in District # 8, the Gilchrist school.  It is believed that she was living with her sister-in-law, Patty Hutchinson and inherited the place when Patty died in 1846.  In 1846, her oldest son Horace was already married and living in Baltimore.
