This is the last Will and Testament of me James Levet of Soham in the county of Cambridge, Thatcher. First I give and devise unto Sarah my wife All and every my Copyhold, messuages and hereditaments situated and being in Soham aforesaid or elsewhere with the appurtanances And also all my personal Estate (except ready money and debts due and oweing to me at my decease) To hold the same unto the said Sarah my Wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and imediately after her decease I do hereby authorise inpower and direct my Executors hereinafter named or the survivor of them or the heirs or assigns of such survivor as soon as conveniently can be after the decease of my said Wife to Sell and dispose of my said Copyhold messuages and hereditaments and also all my personal estate (except as aforesaid) either by public Auction or private sale for the best price that can be obtained for the same to any person or persons who shall be desirious to become the purchases or purchasers thereof and to convey and assure the same copyhold mesauages and hereditaments to the use of such purchaser or purchasers his her or their heirs or assigns or as he she or they shall direct or appoint. And the money arising from the sale thereof I direct to be applied and disposed of as follows (that is to say) I bequeath to my daughter Ann the sum of ten pounds if she shall be living and unmarried at the time of the decease of my said Wife and the residue thereof I direct to be devided between all my children (including my said daughter Ann) which shall be living at the decease of my said Wife share and share alike but in case any or either of my said children shall depart this life in the life line of my said Wife leaving lawful issue I bequeath the share of him her or them so dying to the child or children of such deceased parent And I do declare that the receipt or receipts of my Executors hereinafter named or of the survivor of them or of the heirs or assigns of such survivor for the purchase money of the said copyhold messuages and hereditaments shall be good and sufficient discharges for the same And that such purchaser or purchasers his her or their heirs executors or administrators shall not be required to see to the application of such purchase money or be answerable or accountable for the misapplication or nonapplication thereof or of any part thereof. I bequeath to my said Wife all my ready money and debts due to me at the time of my decease for her own use absolutely she paying my just debts (except mortgage debts) and funeral and Testamentary expenses I appoint my son Joseph Levet and my son in law John Taylor Executors of this my Will and revoke all former Wills by me made. In Witness whereof I the said Janus Levet the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained and written on two sheets of paper to the first sheet thereof subscribed my name and to this second and last sheet subscribed my name and affixit my seal on the nineth day of September in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty.
James Levet signed sealed published and declared by the said James Levet the Teatator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each ether have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto - James Hazlewood - Edwd Martin - John Cropley his mark.
Probate of this will was made 6 June 1821.
