Thomas FARR III [Parents] was born 1 on 16 Sep 1752 in Hardwick, Worcester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. Thomas married Elizabeth STREETER about 1785 in of Chesterfield, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States.

We believe that this Thomas Farr married Elizabeth Streeter and research is currently being done to verify this.

It is clear now that this Thomas Farr is not the one that married Sarah Wheeler because of the Revolutionary War Pension Papers found on Thomas Farr on Fold3.com. The Thomas Farr that married Sarah Wheeler is the son of Abraham Farr and Rachael Foskett.

From Vanessa Herring:
Joel appears to be the oldest son of Thomas and Elizabeth. From father Thomas Farr's estate, Joel received 15 1/3 acres of land and part of the house and barn, while his brothers received 8 1/2 acres each and no part of the house or barn. Going by the 1800 census, he was born sometime between 1785 and 1790. One of his brothers lived with him in 1820.
Joel Farr married Phebe Ray of Townshend VT on 8 Oct 1813 in Acton VT. They do not appear to have had any children together.
Joel mortgaged his home 4 times between 1828 and 1835. One mortgage was from his brother Samuel, then living in Easton NY. Though Joel is not present on the 1840 census in Acton, he is included on the tax list for that year. It is possible that he died in this year.
Thomas Farr may be the second son, born between 1791 and 1800. He stayed in Acton while Samuel left about 1825. Thomas appears to have married because the birth of a son Thomas is recorded in Acton town records on 20 Jul 1826. Additionally, the 1830 census shows that he also had two daughters, one aged 0-4 years, the other 5 to 9 years of age. I have found no marriage record for Thomas. Early vital records in Johnson's Gore/Acton are sparse.
Thomas is no longer in Acton in 1840. He sold everything he owned--  real estate, livestock, farming and carpentry tools, and even crops (except 10 bushels of potatoes) to Israel Streeter on 12 Dec 1831. This may indicate that he was near death, but he was only in his early 40's at worst, so perhaps he moved on to New York, like his brother Samuel.
Neither man or their family members are found in the Acton Cemetery. There also appear to be no probate records for either man.

Elizabeth STREETER was born 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on 17 Oct 1768 in Chesterfield, Cheshire, New Hampshire, British Colonial America. Elizabeth married Thomas FARR III about 1785 in of Chesterfield, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States.

They had the following children.

M i Joel FARR was born about 1791.
M ii Thomas FARR was born about 1797. He died in Dec 1831.
  M iii
Samuel FARR was born about 1799.

I found a guardianship in Windham Co. VT records for Samuel Farr minor and heir of Thomas Farr of Acton. Benjamin Wright was made the guardian of Samuel at the last Wednesday of December 1818 court session. (Vol. F, pg. 79)
This means that Samuel was under 20 years of age at the end of 1818, so was born after 1798. From the censuses, I had previously estimated 1791 to 1800, so now it appears he was born in 1799 or 1800. So this confirms that he was the youngest of the three brothers.

She was buried 3 in Spofford, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States. Lodisa married 4 Caleb JOHNSON on 28 Dec 1809 in Chesterfield, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States.

Thomas FARR [Parents] was born about 1797. He died in Dec 1831 in Acton, Windham, Vermont, United States. Thomas married 1 Permelia GILSON "Milly" on 21 Aug 1825 in Grafton, Windham, Vermont, United States.

I found the probate record for Thomas Farr of Acton , who sold everything he owned to Israel Streeter.

On 31 Dec 1831, less than 3 weeks later, the estate of Thomas Farr late of Acton VT was opened. Joel Farr was the administrator, and Israel Streeter gave bond.

Thomas's wife was Permelia, and personal estate, mainly furniture and household goods, were assigned to her.

At the end of administration, $74.77 was given to Permelia, and $200 was "paid to Thaddeus Taylor, guardian to children Samuel and Thomas Farr heirs of said deceased". Thomas was the child recorded in town records as born on 20 Jul 1826. Samuel was probably the boy recorded in John Streeter's household in 1850, age 18.

So, Thomas Farr died when he was only in his 40's.

Mr Farr,

Thus far, I have not been able to find a marriage record for Thomas and Elizabeth in Cheshire Co. NY or Windham Co., VT that would definitively prove that Elizabeth was a Streeter. However, here are the points in favor of Elizabeth being a Streeter:
1) A big plus is the entry in the Streeter genealogy (on pg 27, I think) showing that Elizabeth married on an unknown date, Thomas Farr, probable brother to her sister Esther's husband Samuel.
2) Otis and John Streeter went from Chesterfield NH to Townshend VT about 1801, the same time when Thomas and Elizabeth went to Johnson's Gore/Acton VT, which was later united with Townshend.
3) John Streeter, brother of Otis, married Elizabeth Farr (daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth). This is also in the Streeter genealogy (pg. 24).
4) Thomas and Elizabeth's son Thomas sold his land and farming goods to Israel Streeter before his death.
5) Thomas and Elizabeth's son Samuel married second Lois Streeter. This is also in the Streeter genealogy (pg 108).
6) Thomas and Elizabeth named a son Joel, and Elizabeth Streeter of Chesterfield NH's eldest brother was named Joel.

(Elizabeth's brother Joel Streeter married Molly Cobb. Joel Farr obtained 3 mortgages from Daniel Cobb Jr., It appears that Molly and Daniel Cobb are not brother and sister. Of interest though, Molly Cobb's mother Silence married 2nd a Streeter of Chesterfield. This according to the History and Genealogy of Westmoreland, NH.)

Considering these connections Thomas and Elizabeth Farr had to Streeters, especially Streeters of Chesterfield, on the whole, I would say that it is likely that Elizabeth who married Thomas Farr is Elizabeth Streeter of Chesterfield born 17 Oct 1768.

Incidentally, I wonder if they also were afflicted with Farr's familial ALS, like brother Samuel Farr and Esther Streeter's family. It's a little harder to tell, when there are no exact birth dates, but sons Thomas and Samuel both likely died in their forties. Elizabeth died at 57. Don't know about Joel, since there is no exact death date, just before 1850. Joel's daughter Rachel died at 43. Was it ever found that something in the Streeter genome interacted with the mutation in the Farr genome to bring out expression of the familial ALS?
