Helen Lucille Farr, 88, died peacefully in her sleep Sept. 3, 1998, at the Anchorage Pioneers' Home. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, downtown. Her cremated remains will be interred at a later date in Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka, Mont. 

Mrs. Farr was born Sept. 30, 1909, in Kalispell, Mont., to Charles Thomas and Katie Atlantic Fredensborg Young. She grew up in Montana and graduated from Lincoln County High School. 

She married Orin Farr on May 20, 1933, in Whitefish, Mont., and resided in Rexford and the Eureka area until 1941, when the family came to Alaska and settled in Seward. Mrs. Farr and her husband then homesteaded on West Poppy Lane near Soldotna and built their home. She lived there until her husband's death in 1988. She then lived in Soldotna briefly before moving to the Anchorage Pioneers' Home in 1991. 

Mrs. Farr was a member of Pioneers of Alaska and Lillian Chapter No. 64, Order of the Eastern Star, in Eureka . 

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby and Aurise, and brothers, Carl and Alby. She is survived by her daughter, Pauline Bennett of Redding, Calif.; sons, Thomas and Terry of Anchorage; grandsons, Matthew Farr of Nashua, N.H., Lt. j.g. Scott Farr of Whidby Island, Wash.; granddaughters, Kristin Billington of Anchorage and Virginia Farr of Jersey City, N.J.; and two great-granddaughters, Jenna and Brea Billington of Anchorage.

Ancestry.com has a record of Ruth E Farr crossing the border into the US with her husband Ronald Farr in 1950. So I went to the image of the original record and it says that Ruth is 20 years of age. I then looked at the date and I believe it to be Sept. 19, 1926. If it were 1950, Ronald would be dead. and Ruth would be much older.
