The funeral for Edwin F. Farr, 72, Woodruff Road, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Floyd Powell officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Farr died Saturday at his home.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Farr served with the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1947 and with the Navy from Nov. 29, 1951, to Nov. 28, 1959. He was a bricklayer with Murnane Inc., Plattsburgh.

Born Jan. 11, 1928, in Adams, a son of Harold and Elizabeth Frederick Farr, he was a graduate of Adams High School and attended a builders school in Port Hueneme, Calif., for two years. He married Jean Hanson on Oct. 3, 1958.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Amber Masonic Lodge 395, Parishville Historical Association, St. Lawrence County Antique Automobile Association, Parishville Volunteer Fire Department and the Bricklayers union.

He was a former member of Shriners Club, served as a hospital volunteer and enjoyed antique car shows, air shows and reading books on historical information, cars, airplanes and trains.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Aaron, Oklahoma; three daughters and their husbands, Marsha and Brad Clements, Potsdam, Rebecca and John Reed, Parishville, and Holly and Kenneth Thompson, Oklahoma; a sister, Evelyn Hill, Washington; four grandchildren, an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Two brothers, Richard and Donald, and a sister, Beverly Farr, died before him.

PEABODY — Stanley R. Farr, 78, died on Tuesday (Feb. 14, 2012) at Newton Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 3, 1933, in Adams Center, N.Y., to Nathan Earl and Letha (Clark) Farr. On April 6, 1953, he married Jeanetta E. Deines in Chapman, and she survives of the home. Stanley was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Peabody. He was a retired manager for Westar Energy. Following his retirement, he farmed in the Marion area. Stanley was a member of the Kiwanis Club and president of the Peabody Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed golfing and farming, and especially enjoyed his coffee groups in Marion, Peabody and Newton. Family was important to Stan, and he greatly looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends.He is survived by his wife, Jeanetta of the home; sons, Gary Farr of Clearwater, Fla., and Daniel Farr and his wife, Melanie of Merriam; daughters, Brenda Hague and her husband, Randy of Newton, and Jaclyn Voight of Leawood; brother, Jerry Farr of Chapman; sisters, Betty Lou and Bob Whitley of Blakey, Ga., Shirley and Jim Montgomery of Corvalis, Ore., Cindy and Larry Combs of Redland, Ore., Mary Ellen Smith of Bella Vista, Ark., and Rosalee Turnbull of Lebonon, Ore.Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Farr; and son-in-law, Brian Voight.Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.A celebration of Stanley's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Peabody, with the Rev.
