Born about 1833 in Jefferson Co., N.Y. Married about 1866 to Lucinda E. Bow (Born about 1841 in N.Y.).  Convicted of petty larceny in 1853 and 1855. Was a laborer living with the L. C. Pratt family in 1850. 14 Nov. 1867, Ephraim Farr bought land in Twp 13 N of Range 11 East (Novesta Twp., Mich.).  (Birth record shows him still of Elkland (Cass City) on 7 Feb. 1868.) On 3 Apr. 1869 he is one of 18 legal voters in Novesta. 1871 -- fire hits Novesta; all escape to river except David M. Houghton. He was murdered by Jess Van Allen, a former boarder, whom he discovered in bed with his wife, Lucinda. The newspaper says the murder took place in Cass City, but the death record says it took place in Novesta, an adjacent township. Ephraim owned two acres in Elkland township (in Section 34, Twp 14 N of R 11 E, or Cass City) that was sold to Lloyd B. Greenleaf during the probate settlement. Age at death not given in county death index indicating that the informant was not his wife. Died 17 Jul 1874 in Novesta, Tuscola Co., Michigan.

Ephriam Farr, a son of Stephen Farr and Heiress Towne, was the first husband of Lucinda Greenleaf, a daughter of Alfred Fairbanks Greenleaf and Anna Eliza Van Allen. Lucinda and Ephriam Farr, who lived in Novesta Township, Tuscola County, Michigan, had five known children. 

On July 17, 1874 Ephriam was stabbed to death at his home in Novesta Township by a former boarder in an argument that escalated to a fight over the boarder's alleged intimacies with Lucinda. Ephriam's wounds were such that he died almost instantly, and the assailant immediately turned himself over to the law. He was later sentenced to ten years in Jackson prison where he learned cigar making. Toward the end of his sentence he saved the life of a prison guard, and therefore the rest of his sentence was commuted.

Ephriam was 41 years, 11 months, and 24 days old at the time of his death. He is buried in Elkland Cemetery, Cass City, Michigan with two of his children, James E. Farr (1866-1878) and Arres E. Farr (1868-1869). Ephriam and Lucinda had two other children: 

1) Minnie Belle Farr (born August 19, 1869 in Novesta, Tuscola County, Michigan); and 
2) William Henry Farr (born May 25, 1873 in Novesta, Tuscola County, Michigan).
