Funeral services were held June 28 for Roy M Farr, 80, retired Newport rancher who died June 25 in Atkinson, after having suffered a stroke. Burial was in Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma, son Billy and wife Dorothy, their children, Mrs Janet Gildersleeve and Jack, all of Atkinson; three step children Virginia LeJenne of Titusville, Flo, her daughter Karen, Jim Savage of Omaha, and his son Mark Jean Savage and his daughter Stacy and wife Mary of New Orleans, La and a sister Fern Allen of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gertrude Keller and two brothers Clifford and Eugene.
Mr Farr was the son of Willie and Addie Farr, born at Newport on April 4,1897. He grew up and received his education in Newport area.
On Jan 1,1927 he was united in marriage to Wilma K Savage at Springview and to this union one son Billy was born and with his wife's three young children by a previous marriage, Virginia, Jim and Jean, completed their family.
Mr Farr lived in and around the Newport community all of his life. He was engaged in the hay baling business. The family moved to a farm west of Newport where Spring Valley Park now stands. In 1940 they moved to a ranch southeast of Newport where they lived until last winter when the couple moved to Atkinson.
