Shubell FARR - The subject of this sketch was born in Chesterfield, New Hampshire, on the 4th day of March, 1805. He is the oldest child of Alpheus and Sybil Farr, who reared a family of twelve children. All the education Mr. Farr received was in the public schools of Massachusetts. His vocation through life has always been that of a farmer. He was married at the age of twenty-seven to Miss Ludinda McKillips, daughter of David and Resine McKillips. He removed from his native State with his family to Orange County, Vermont, where he resided for a number of years, removing from there to Indiana, where he lived until the month of June, 1838, when he emigrated to Rock County, Wisconsin, where he located on one hundred and sixty acres of government land, and has since resided. The farm is under a fair state of cultivation, with good buildings. The house is said to be the first frame building in Johnstown Township, if not the oldest in the County. Mr. Farr has paid considerable attention to the growing and marketing of fine stock. Politically, he is a strong advocate of the old Democratic principles, and during the civil war was a strong Union man. Being one of the early settlers of the County, he participated in the first organization of the township of Johnstown. Mr. Farr has always enjoyed good health, and is now living at quite and advanced age. He enjoys the confidence and respect of all his fellow-citizens.
