Winslow Farr Jr. Homestead in Mexico

Winslow Farr Jr. obtained a patent for the Homestead in February of 1881. The two story home was built with adobe bricks which were made from white clay taken from the lower pasture of the Homestead. Light for the home was furnished by kerosene lamps. The people in the photo are Emily Jane's family. This house is no longer standing. Barnard Farr, Emily Jane's son, built a brick home, in 1903, which still stands next door on part of what was the original homestead property. For a more detailed desription see the Winslow Farr Jr. and his Polygamous Wives Booklet compiled by Wilma and Randall Smith.
