GILMANTON -- James "Jim" S. Farr, 61, of Route 140, died at home Dec. 26, 2004.

Born Sept. 3, 1943, in Barre, Vt., he was the son of Sumner and Peggy M. (Murphy) Farr. He graduated from Richmond (Vt.) High School, attended Williams College, graduated from Castleton State College and received his master's degree in education from Antioch New England University.

He had recently retired after more than 35 years as a teacher, the last 21 at Gilford Middle-High School, Gilford, where he taught science.

Mr. Farr was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather.

The family includes his wife of 38 years, Nancy (Ryer) Farr of Gilmanton; a son, James S. F. Farr of Portland, Maine; two grandchildren; his mother, of Richmond, Vt.; a brother, Sumner "Chuck" Farr of Richmond, Vt.; a sister, Katherine F. Towne of Valdosta, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: There are calling hours or funeral service.
