William Farr and Levi Farr married sisters, the Hadley girls of Westford. These two families were very close throughout their lives together. William, along with brothers, Levi and Nathaniel, were among the first grantees of the town of "Neshobe" (Brandon, Vt.), granted by Governor Wentworth on 3 Nov., 1761.  They never took up their claims in Brandon. William removed to Ashby, Massachusetts, where he was living when the 1790 census was taken.

William Farr was a Revolutionary soldier in the NH line, enlisting first at Cambridge, Massachusetts, completing eight months of service in the company of Captain Bryant at the capture of Burgoyne's Army; He also entered service in the Massachusetts line, Jan., 1776, under Captain Diamon Morton; Colonel Knox's Regiment, going by way of New London, NH to New York. He served in Captain Norton's Company until the 1st of Jan., 1777, when he was dismissed. William applied for a survivor's pension (20 April, 1818 and March of 1821), and was "destitute of property". On May 11, 1785, William Farr came from Harvard, Mass. with wife Lucy, and daughters Sally & Molly, to Shirley, Mass., remained a short time (taken in by James Parker), and eventually settled in Ashby, Massachusetts.
