PALMER, AMANDA-- Mrs. Amanda Palmer died at her home in Geneva at 2:30 a. m. Sunday February 7, 1915, aged ninety-six years, one month and sixteen days. Mrs. Palmer was ill only a short time, pneumonia causing death. Amanda M. Farr, daughter of Elijah and Mary Burnham Farr was born in Littleton, N. H. December 21, 1819. She was married to George H. Palmer at the same place August 22, 1842. They moved from Littleton to Manchaster, N. H., and from Manchester to West Falls, N. Y. and from West Falls to Conneaut, O., going from there to Evansville, Wis. From Wisconsin they came to Geneva, Neb., in 1888.

To Mr. and Mrs. Palmer were born five children: Mrs. Carrie M. Nelson of Lincoln, George A., deceased in early childhood; Lucian F. of Minneapolis, died March 22, 1914; Arthur G., died in infancy; and Hattie L. of Geneva. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive. Mr. Palmer died December 28, 1898. Mrs. Palmer had four brother and two sisters and survived them all. 

Mrs. Palmer was the possessor of a keen intellect and a happy disposition and she carried these with her through life. It was only recently that failing sight prevented her from reading The Signal and other newspapers and books from the public library. She continued to have a clear understanding of current events and a keen appreciation of what was going on in the world. On Wednesday of last week she and the members of her family enjoyed a dinner at the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Austin and she was in her usual good spirits. Advancing years made greater inroads on her strength than on her mental faculties. When she was attacked by pneumonia late last week she did not have physical strength enough to throw off the disease. She had been blessed with good health and unusual vigor through the years of an unusually long life and she was ready to take the journey. Mrs. Palmer was a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal church and she died in the faith. The funeral took place from the family home at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by her late pastor, Rev. W. L. Austin. Flowers and the presence of many friends indicated the love and esteem felt for her in the community. The interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
