Muriel Winifred Priest, 72, of Modesto died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Priest was a lifelong resident of Modesto. Before retiring in 1999, she had been the office manager at Air-One Heating & Air Conditioning. She also worked for Farr Department Store, which her family owned, until it closed in 1981. She belonged to the First Church of the Nazarene, where she also was secretary and office manager.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall Starr Priest of Modesto; children, Susan Urbina of Livingston and Lynelle Roberts of Central Point, Ore.; brother, Harvey Farr of Sacramento; sisters, Elaine Thomas of Novato, Doris Galloway of Citrus Heights, Leona Strong of Midpines, Bernice Millen of Merced, and Janet Bertaut and Carol Allen, both of Turlock; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be a Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Allen Mortuary, Turlock.

Leona was born in Modesto, CA to Bernard and Ruth Farr.  She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and her husband Bill of 53 years.  She leaves three children:  Jane Sullivan (John), Linda Quinn (Hal) of Denair, and Bill Strong, Jr. (Lynette) of Modesto.  She leaves seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Bill Sr. and Leona enjoyed their boats and loved traveling in their motor home.  She worked for Farr’s Department Store in Modesto, her family business.  Later, she worked as the bookkeeper for Boies Downtown Drug Store in Turlock.

Leona leaves a legacy of strength and character demonstrated by her capacity to help others, her love and unquestionable integrity and most of all, her unwavering faith in God and her savior, the Lord Jesus  Christ.

A private burial was held at Lakewood Memorial Park.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 30 at 2:00pm at Connecting Point Church of the Nazarene in Denair, CA.
