Com there was even special mourning jewelry such as lockets and cameos to wear & keep the deceased’s hair in. So it appears Frances is giving them money to buy mourning apparel for her death.
Tippett: A scarf usually of cloth, wool, or fox fur for covering the neck and shoulders w/long ends that hang in front like a stole Dict. Com
